The Parent Friend Program of Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association helps parents build stronger families and become self-sufficient. Parenting is difficult for anyone, but especially for those who may have additional challenges, such as insufficient education, low income, inadequate or lack of housing, substance abuse, domestic violence, or unplanned pregnancies.
A Concord Regional VNA social worker and trained home visitor offer encouragement and guidance to parents, helping them to identify and reach basic goals. The program supports and nurtures each parent so that they can better nurture their own children.
How can the Parent Friend Program help me?
Parent Friend Home Visitors can help you or someone you know learn basic childcare, good health and nutritional choices, the importance of goal setting, budgeting, and day-to-day household management. The Parent Friend Program has helped many parents build self-confidence and self-esteem, secure affordable housing, earn their GED and obtain jobs.
Is there a fee to join the Parent Friend Program?
No, thanks to generous community contributions the Parent Friend Program is free for families with at least one child age 3 or under.

Grief Support for the Holidays
The loss of a loved one hurts more on holidays, birthdays, anniversaries or other special days, when the grief one feels takes on additional clarity and depth. These feelings are normal and to be expected. Special days intensify grief because they focus on feelings of loss. The absence of a loved one may alter or completely change the traditions once shared, which in turn may awaken many memories. However, one can learn how to live with the grief and not be consumed by it.
Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association provides a free informational and supportive session called "Grief and the Holidays." The facilitator is a member of the Hospice team. Space is limited. Please call 224-4093 extension 2826 for information.
