Concord Regional VNA Provides 'Grief and Holidays' Session
The loss of a loved one hurts more on holidays, birthdays, anniversaries or other special days, when the grief one feels takes on additional clarity and depth. These feelings are normal and to be expected. Special days intensify grief because they focus on feelings of loss. The absence of a loved one may alter or completely change the traditions once shared, which in turn may awaken many memories. However, one can learn how to live with the grief and not be consumed by it.
Concord Regional Visiting Nurse Association will provide a free informational and supportive session called "Grief and the Holidays" for adults coping with loss during the holiday season. It will take place on Thursday, November 5 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Chapel Meeting Room at Wesley United Methodist Church, 79 Clinton Street, Concord. The facilitator is Laurie Farmer, ACHP-SW, Hospice Director of Social Work, Spiritual Care and Bereavement Services Concord Regional VNA.
Please RSVP to Laurie Brooks at 224-4093 extension 2826 or laurie.brooks@crvna.org. A donation of one non-perishable food item per person is appreciated. Food items to benefit Wesley United Methodist Church food pantry.
